Regional traditions highlighted in Małopolska and Konecki district
In Ludźmierz, the Małopolska Championships in Sport Carriage Driving are taking place at the local hippodrome. The event, which began on Saturday, August 22, features over 30 teams participating in dressage and marathon trials, including obstacle courses involving water, barrels, and tires. The competition continues with agility contests, wood pulling, and four-horse carriage displays. Dr. Maciej Baraniak of the Pro Nati Equestrian Association noted that horse-drawn carriages are a 150-year-old tradition in the Podhale region.
Simultaneously, religious traditions are being observed through long-standing pilgrimages to Jasna Góra. Pilgrims from Gowarczów departed on August 21 for a 68th annual five-day trek covering 133 kilometers. Meanwhile, the 176-year-old pilgrimage from Radoszyce began on August 20. This journey is recognized as the oldest in the Konecki district and is notable for being one of the few walking pilgrimages that also includes a walking return trip.
