Regional mental health initiatives expand across Latin America and Spain
Various regional initiatives across Latin America and Spain are focusing on mental health awareness and prevention. In Argentina, municipalities in Bahía Blanca, Concepción del Uruguay, and San Salvador de Jujuy are conducting community festivals, educational cinema sessions on grooming, and public talks to promote mental well-being and reduce stigma.
In Chile, Junaeb Arica and Parinacota, in collaboration with the University of Chile, held a regional workshop for educators to identify suicide risks and support adolescent mental health. Meanwhile, in the Chiloé region, health services are strengthening epidemiological teams to improve disease surveillance.
In Mexico, the Los Cabos government provided specialized training to 911 emergency operators to improve the detection and handling of anxiety-related calls. In Spain, the city of Rubí marked Mental Health Day with a community march and a manifesto calling for increased resources and social inclusion for those with mental health challenges.
Additional programs include community training for prevention workers in Crespo, Argentina, and a longevity and healthy aging alliance in the West Zone of Buenos Aires.
