Regional training initiatives focus on food hygiene in Senegal and crisis journalism in Niger

In Senegal, the Association of Journalists in Health, Population, and Development, in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), held an awareness day for female food vendors at the Pikine market garage. The initiative focused on food hygiene practices. Vendors expressed varying views on responsibility, with some noting that while they maintain personal medical certifications and food safety, the maintenance of public facility sanitation rests with local authorities.

In Niger, the Association of Journalists of Niger (AJN), collaborating with the National Communication Observatory (ONC), conducted a training session in Niamey for public and private sector journalists. The training focused on managing information during periods of crisis. Discussions addressed the complexities of the Sahel crisis, emphasizing the need for journalistic rigor, integrity, and the verification of information to navigate national and regional instabilities.
