Regional training initiatives launched in Nagaland

Two distinct training programmes were recently conducted in Nagaland to enhance community skills and healthcare standards.

In the Kobulong EAC Sub-Division, the Asetkong Kaketshir Telungjem Mungdang (AKTM) hosted a two-day Skill Development Programme focused on self-sustenance. More than 60 youths participated in sessions covering basket making, shiitake mushroom cultivation, and the production of traditional items like Amzu (a sticky-rice biscuit), tapioca bhujia, and banana chips. The initiative also included training in marketing, photography, and video editing to help participants promote local products and preserve cultural heritage.

In Wokha, a three-day DAKSHATA training programme was held at Dr Motsuo Memorial District Hospital for health workers. Part of the broader LAQSHYA initiative, the training focused on evidence-based practices for labour, delivery, and immediate postpartum care. Sessions covered essential topics such as newborn resuscitation, infection prevention, and the use of the Safe Delivery App to ensure high standards of care for mothers and newborns.
