Regional transport subsidies expand for vulnerable populations

Various regional initiatives are expanding free public transportation access for vulnerable populations.

In Burzaco, Argentina, a processing event for Multimodal Free Passes will take place on September 3 at the Center for Access to Rights for Persons with Disabilities. The program, coordinated between the Municipality of Almirante Brown and the Government of the Province of Buenos Aires, provides free transit for residents with disabilities, transplant recipients, or those on waiting lists. Beneficiaries must present a National Identity Document and either a Unique Disability Certificate (CUD) or an INCUCAI credential to receive the pass.

In Bogotá, Colombia, more than 750,000 people will benefit from free TransMilenio fares during September through the Guaranteed Minimum Income program. Supported by an investment of over 11.4 billion pesos, the benefit targets seniors over 62, persons with disabilities, those in extreme or moderate poverty, and former homeless individuals. To use the benefit, users must activate the assigned trips on their personalized TuLlave cards via TransMilenio ticket offices or automated service points.
