Regional transport usage rises in Łódzkie and Małopolska regions

Public transport providers in Poland have reported significant increases in passenger numbers for the third quarter of 2026.

Łódzka Kolej Aglomeracyjna (ŁKA) served over 3.16 million passengers between July and September, an increase of nearly 250,000 compared to the same period last year. The most popular route connected Łódź with Skierniewice and Warsaw, attracting nearly 500,000 travelers. Additionally, ŁKA’s free bus services saw a 56% increase in usage, with over 242,000 people utilizing the 13 free lines.

In the Małopolska region, Koleje Małopolskie reported that its trains and buses carried over 2.32 million passengers in September 2026 alone, marking a 20.7% year-on-year increase. While train ridership grew by 10.4%, the Małopolskie Linie Dowozowe bus services reached a record high, with 777,785 passengers, a 48.3% increase compared to September 2025. Projections suggest the carrier may break its annual ridership record by the end of the year.
