Regional tributes and memory works in Cuenca and Albacete

In Cuenca, the city council has announced the passing of former municipal councillor Mariano Buendía Algarra. Buendía Algarra served as a councillor between 1983 and 1987 and also held provincial responsibilities as a deputy in the Palacio Provincial de Cuenca. To honor his service, the bells of the Mangana Tower will toll in mourning at noon on Saturday, September 19.

In Albacete, officials have inaugurated a funerary monument in the La Roda cemetery to honor 99 victims of the Franco dictatorship. Santi Cabañero, president of the Diputación de Albacete, announced that work will soon begin on the exhumation of a second mass grave at the site. This follows a previous intervention that recovered the remains of 24 individuals, 16 of whom were identified through DNA analysis. The project is supported by the Association of Democratic Memory of La Roda and the University of Castilla-La Mancha.
