France suspends high school education amid student protests

French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu has announced a suspension of high school education until the end of the week due to ongoing protests. Students are demonstrating to demand improved educational conditions, with some incidents involving violence, including school arson and an assault on a teacher.

Lecornu stated that while students have the right to demonstrate, the government will not tolerate violence. Reports indicate that nearly 5,000 young people have been detained, and over 1,000 people—including 715 security personnel and 215 students—have been injured. Mathilde Panot of the La France Insoumise (LFI) party criticized the government's management of the protests, calling for political solutions rather than police intervention.
