Regional updates from Portugal and Brazil

Various regional developments and cultural updates have been reported across Portugal and Brazil.

In Castelo Branco, health authorities issued an alert following the detection of the Aedes albopictus mosquito, a known vector for diseases such as dengue, zika, and chikungunya. While the presence of the mosquito does not confirm the circulation of these viruses in the area, residents are advised to eliminate breeding sites.

In Brazil, traditional Madeira embroidery was featured in a cultural exhibition in Santos, São Paulo, aimed at connecting the local Portuguese community with regional craftsmanship.

In Portugal, the Peroselo Basic School in Penafiel has reopened following a municipal investment of approximately 788,000 euros for renovations. Meanwhile, the Minister of Labor and Social Solidarity, Maria do Rosário Palma Ramalho, inaugurated a care home in Mafra; however, the facility cannot yet open to residents as it lacks a formal agreement with the State.

Additionally, Netflix has announced a new six-episode miniseries adaptation of ‘Pride and Prejudice’, scheduled to premiere on December 3, 2026, starring Emma Corrin and Jack Lowden.
