Waidhofen and Kematen announce local development and infrastructure updates
In Waidhofen, the city and ÖBB-Immobilienmanagement GmbH are planning a new urban district at the railway station. The 6,000-square-meter site, formerly part of the Ybbstalbahn, is intended to host residential units, offices, gastronomy, healthcare services, and retail. Development is part of a larger urban strategy, with initial station forecourt and bike-and-ride improvements scheduled for 2027 and 2028.
In Kematen, the SPAR supermarket will undergo a four-week modernization starting October 16. The renovation will expand the store by 200 square meters and increase its inventory by approximately 2,000 items. The project includes a new, more convenient bottle return system accessible directly from the parking lot, with a planned reopening on November 12.
