Regional updates: Visual health aid in Argentina and disaster preparedness in Ecuador

In Argentina, Governor Marcelo Orrego led a territorial deployment in the 9 de Julio department to distribute over 700 pairs of eyeglasses. Part of the ‘Te veo bien’ program, the initiative provided vision correction to more than 580 residents, including children, adults, and seniors. The program includes free ophthalmological exams and custom-made lenses to improve local access to visual health services.

In Ecuador, the National Secretariat for Risk Management (SNGR) has intensified preparation in the Carchi province to mitigate the potential impacts of the El Niño phenomenon. Secretary Carolina Lozano met with local fire departments and municipal authorities in Tulcán and Espejo to coordinate prevention plans and emergency responses. Additionally, the SNGR coordinated the dispatch of a humanitarian aid convoy from Ecuador to Colombia to support families affected by recent earthquakes.
