Regional warnings issued for deer rutting season and water shortages
In Hungary, the red deer rutting season is approaching, prompting warnings from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food regarding road safety. Drivers are advised to exercise caution, especially during twilight, night, and dawn, as deer are more active during these times. Recommendations include slowing down near warning signs, maintaining distance, and using high beams when possible to avoid collisions.
Additionally, VERGA Zrt. has implemented forest access restrictions in the Királyszállási, Zirci, and Kab-hegyi hunting areas to ensure tranquility for deer during their mating period. Restrictions apply daily before 9:00 and after 16:00, though daytime access for pedestrians and cyclists remains permitted. Visitors are also warned of potential military live-fire exercises in these areas.
In Romania, Hydrokov has issued requests to farmers in the Three Counties region to avoid irrigation during peak hours. Prolonged dry weather has significantly increased water consumption, leading to shortages in several municipalities, including Gelence, Zágonbárkány, and Szaramás. To maintain network pressure and prevent further restrictions, agricultural users are encouraged to irrigate when demand is lower.
