Regional authorities implement waste and environmental regulations

Various regional authorities are implementing new measures regarding waste management, environmental protection, and judicial oversight.

In Argentina, prosecutor Raúl Casal ordered a nighttime operation to clean a property in Pilar that served as a vaccination center during the pandemic. The operation aims to preserve evidence for an inventory while removing remaining vaccines. The property, owned by Mateo Corvo Dolcet, has been linked to previous investigations involving money laundering.

In Mexico, municipal authorities in Ciudad Juárez have closed a recycling business and three adjacent lots due to the illegal accumulation of industrial waste and lack of safety measures. Meanwhile, in Colima, Profepa temporarily closed an unauthorized cabin in the Sierra de Manantlán Biosphere Reserve following the destruction of trees. Other municipal efforts include cleaning 286 neighborhoods in Soledad de Graciano Sánchez and deploying ecological agents to inspect recycling centers to prevent fires.

In Spain, the Asturias region invested 158,000 euros to improve selective waste collection infrastructure in the Ponga Natural Park. Additionally, Esquel has launched an environmental education program for institutions to improve waste separation and recovery rates.
