Regionalni vodovod reports record water deliveries in Montenegro

Regionalni vodovod Crnogorsko primorje has achieved record water deliveries during the recent tourist seasons, despite unfavorable hydrological conditions. Hydrogeological research conducted by Geoprojekt indicates that the construction of temporary dams in the Morača River bed has increased the yield of the Bolje sestre water source.

Krsto Radović, Executive Director of the regional water utility, identified the devastation of the Morača River bed as a major ecological issue in Montenegro. He noted that illegal gravel exploitation, which has been prohibited in certain sanitary protection zones since 2008, remains a persistent problem. Radović stated that these illegal activities cause resource theft, threaten tourism, and damage the local ecosystem. He further noted that the company has had to redirect planned investments for system expansion toward repairing damage and ensuring short-term water security.
