Regular Cardio Improves Heart, Lung Health and Lowers Cholesterol

Aerobic exercise such as walking, running, cycling or dancing increases heart muscle strength, lowers resting heart rate and enhances lung capacity by improving gas exchange in the alveoli. Regular sessions of at least 30 minutes a day can reduce LDL cholesterol, raise HDL and lower triglycerides, contributing to a cleaner vascular system.

Health experts recommend that teens aim for about 60 minutes of daily physical activity, combining cardio with strength and flexibility work. Any activity that raises the heart rate—fast walking, stair climbing, VR fitness games, or sport participation—provides benefits, and a gym membership or team sport is not required.
