Rei Daikoku of comedy duo Ranran announces return after health battle

Rei Daikoku, a member of the comedy duo Ranran, has announced her return to activity via Instagram following a long period of medical leave. Daikoku, 35, had been on hiatus since August 2023 after being diagnosed with malignant lymphoma and subsequently developing encephalitis, a condition that left her in critical condition at one point.

In her recent social media update, Daikoku expressed gratitude to those who supported her, stating, “From here, little by little. With gratitude to everyone who has supported me so far.” Her return follows a surprise stage appearance during her partner Momo’s solo live performance in late 2025, which was also featured in a documentary on Yomiuri TV’s ‘24 Hour Television.’ Fans have responded to her post with messages of welcome and encouragement for her to continue her recovery at her own pace.
