Reichenbach im Vogtland receives new cigarette waste containers
The Federal Association of the Tobacco Industry and Novel Products (BVTE) is supporting the city of Reichenbach im Vogtland through its environmental campaign, ‘Ich rauche & achte auf die Umwelt’ (I smoke & care for the environment). As part of this initiative, the BVTE is providing three new collection containers for cigarette waste to the municipality.
BVTE Managing Director Jan Mücke will present the containers to Mayor Henry Ruß on August 11, 2026. The campaign, which began in 2020, has already seen the free distribution of over one million reusable pocket ashtrays across Germany. Mücke emphasized that individuals bear responsibility for proper disposal, noting that e-cigarettes require specific handling through retailers or municipal collection points due to their electronic components and batteries.
