Reinhard Mey reaches number one on German album charts

German singer-songwriter Reinhard Mey has achieved a significant milestone with his thirtieth studio album, ‘Schatzhauser’. The album reached number one on the Official German Album Charts during its first week of release.

This achievement makes the 83-year-old Mey the oldest national artist to ever secure a number-one position in Germany. Unlike his previous studio recordings, which typically featured guest musicians and various instruments, ‘Schatzhauser’ is a minimalist production consisting solely of Mey’s vocals and guitar.

Mey previously set a record when his song ‘In meinem Garten’ entered the charts 55 years after its initial release, following its mention in a Netflix documentary. With this latest release, he has surpassed several contemporary international and domestic artists in chart performance.
