Reinhard Mey releases 30th studio album ‘Schatzhauser’

German singer-songwriter Reinhard Mey has released his 30th studio album, titled ‘Schatzhauser’. The 83-year-old artist describes the work as a return to his musical roots, featuring a stripped-back production consisting only of his voice and a guitar, avoiding modern arrangements or orchestras.

The album includes a re-recording of his 1970 song ‘In meinem Garten’, which recently saw a resurgence on the German charts following a Netflix documentary. The new tracks explore themes of life experiences, travel, and the transience of life.

In recent interviews, Mey has spoken candidly about mortality and personal loss, specifically referencing the death of his son, Maximilian, in 2014. He shared that he has already chosen his final resting place, expressing a wish to be buried in a forest near where his son is laid to rest.
