Reiwa Shinsengumi rebrands as Inochi no To

The Japanese political party Reiwa Shinsengumi has rebranded as ‘Inochi no To’ following the resignation of Taro Yamamoto. The transition marks a significant shift for the party, which has been characterized as a left-wing populist movement since its founding in 2019. The new representative, Joji Yamamoto, acknowledged that the party had become overly dependent on Taro Yamamoto’s personal charisma.

In a recent social media update, the newly named Inochi no To urged its supporters to engage in sincere communication and refrain from online slander or personal attacks against those with differing opinions. The party emphasized its commitment to dialogue and building a better society through listening to diverse perspectives. However, the request for calm discourse was met with skepticism by Vice Representative Fumiyo Okuda, who reacted to the post on social media with the comment, ‘What is this?’
