Rekha Gupta: Delhi court seeks police report over alleged remarks

A Delhi court has directed the police to submit a status report regarding a complaint filed against Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. The complaint alleges that Gupta made disparaging remarks about government officials during a public event in September 2025.

The incident reportedly occurred at the Kashmere Gate ISBT during a program to launch Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) interstate bus services to Baraut, Uttar Pradesh. According to the complainant, Ram Niwas Sharma, Gupta compared officials to Lord Hanuman, allegedly stating, “These Hanumans remember their temporary powers only when their tail catches fire; before that they forget it.”

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Ashwani Panwar of the Rouse Avenue Courts has requested a response from the Station House Officer of the Kashmere Gate police station. The matter, filed under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, is scheduled for further hearing on October 15.
