Rekha Gupta demands sedition cases against Rahul Gandhi over Election Commission criticism
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has called for sedition cases to be filed against Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi and other opposition leaders following their criticisms of the Election Commission and the SIR controversy.
Speaking to the media in New Delhi, Gupta defended the Election Commission as a transparent and impartial constitutional body. She argued that questioning such institutions without basis is an attempt to mislead the public and distract from national development.
Addressing the controversy regarding voter list revisions, the Chief Minister clarified that removing deceased, duplicate, or ineligible names is a standard procedure intended to ensure accuracy and convenience for eligible voters. She dismissed allegations of ‘vote theft’ as baseless, stating that the Election Commission has already clarified its position regarding Form-6 and the simplification of voter list processes.
