Rekha hoists Indian flag in Melbourne for Independence Day

To mark India's Independence Day, veteran actress Rekha hoisted the Indian National Flag in Melbourne. During the event, which was part of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM), Rekha and actor Pankaj Tripathi performed the National Anthem, ‘Jana Gana Mana’.

As part of the festival, Rekha is set to receive the Excellence in Cinema Award in recognition of her contributions to Indian cinema. The festival also featured a screening of her 1981 film, ‘Umrao Jaan’.

In a lighthearted moment captured by the IFFM, Rekha was seen coaching Pankaj Tripathi on how to greet the Melbourne crowd in English. Meanwhile, several prominent Bollywood figures, including Kangana Ranaut, Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Kajol, shared messages on social media to celebrate the occasion and express patriotism.
