Relativity Space added to NASA launch services program

NASA has added Relativity Space’s Terran R rocket to its NASA Launch Services II (NLS II) program. This inclusion, facilitated through the contract’s on-ramp provision, allows the startup to compete for mission contracts through 2030, with a performance period extending to December 2032. The program supports NASA’s Human Spaceflight, Science, and Research and Technology Mission Directorates, and can also provide services to other agencies like NOAA.

To support its growing capabilities, Relativity Space has entered an agreement with Space Florida to build new manufacturing and test facilities near Cape Canaveral. This expansion is supported by up to $134 million in financing from the Florida Department of Transportation’s Spaceport Improvement Program. The new Florida-based production line is intended to complement the company’s existing factory in Long Beach, California, and is expected to generate thousands of jobs in the state by 2034.
