Relay For Life Japan holds 2026 cancer awareness events

Relay For Life Japan held its 2026 regional events in Hiroshima and Saitama to support cancer patients and raise awareness.

In Hiroshima, the event took place at the Onomichi City General Welfare Center. The program included walks by survivors and participants, cancer awareness lectures, and musical performances. A mammography screening vehicle was also present to emphasize the importance of early detection. The event featured a Luminaire ceremony to honor those lost to cancer.

In Saitama, the event was held at the Midori Ward Agricultural Training Center. Despite rain on the first day, participants continued the relay walk to symbolize solidarity with those facing cancer 24/7. Educational sessions featured experts discussing national cancer control plans, living and working after a diagnosis, and available support systems. The Japan Cancer Society also highlighted the cancer consultation hotline supported by donations from the relay.
