Reliance Energy to invest €100.5 million in Serbian battery plant

China-based Jiangsu Reliance Energy has announced plans to invest €100.5 million in a new battery factory in Inđija, Serbia. This marks the company’s first overseas production site and is part of a broader effort to establish Serbia as a manufacturing hub for high-value technologies. The facility will produce advanced batteries for drones, humanoid robots, unmanned vehicles, power tools, and household appliances.

This investment aligns with Serbia’s strategic shift toward automation, artificial intelligence hardware, and advanced energy systems. The country has seen an increase in Chinese industrial investment over the last decade, moving from mining and steel into electric-vehicle components and robotics.

Simultaneously, ABB Serbia is focusing on supporting the regional energy transition through electrification, automation, and digital technologies. The company provides engineering and digital solutions to help industrial and infrastructure sectors manage rising electricity demand and improve system reliability.
