Reliance Industries announces major energy investments in West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh

Reliance Industries has proposed massive infrastructure and energy investments across two Indian states. In West Bengal, the company has presented a plan to invest approximately ₹2 lakh crore over the next six to seven years. This proposal includes the development of a nuclear power project in Haripur, East Midnapore, alongside luxury hotels, advanced data centers, and coal gasification plants. To mitigate potential local opposition encountered in previous years, the state government has suggested Nayachar near Haldia as an alternative site for the nuclear project.

In Andhra Pradesh, Reliance Industries plans to invest ₹1 lakh crore to establish compressed biogas (CBG) projects. Anant Ambani stated that these projects are designed to utilize organic waste to produce clean fuel and natural fertilizers, contributing to both food and energy security. The initiative is expected to create more than 300,000 jobs in the state. The biogas produced can be used for electricity generation, cooking fuel, and as biomethane for vehicles.
