Reliance Industries charts AI and new‑energy roadmap at 2026 AGM

Chairman and MD Mukesh Ambani used Reliance Industries’ 49th annual general meeting to unveil an ambitious plan for artificial intelligence and new‑energy development in India. He announced the creation of Reliance Intelligence as a new growth engine and detailed a sovereign AI backbone to be built in Jamnagar, powered by the company’s solar assets. The data centre will start with 120 MW capacity by the end of 2026 and can expand to host more than 200,000 H100‑equivalent GPUs. AI services will be offered in 22 Indian languages across health, agriculture, education and commerce, with products such as Jio AI‑IQ, Jio Health IQ and Jio Agriculture IQ. Ambani emphasized that “India should become a creator and global leader of AI,” and highlighted partnerships with Google, Meta and Nvidia to accelerate the ecosystem. The strategy mirrors Reliance’s earlier push to bring low‑cost internet to every Indian, now aiming to make AI equally accessible and affordable.
