Reliance Industries reports Mukesh Ambani’s continued salary abstention and secures Supreme Court relief in RPL share‑tr
Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), has not drawn a salary, allowance, or retirement benefits for six consecutive financial years, from FY 2021‑22 through FY 2025‑26. His earnings come entirely from dividends, amounting to about ₹9.66 crore for FY 2024‑25, after RIL posted a record profit of ₹95,754 crore in FY 2025‑26.
The Supreme Court of India overturned a securities appellate tribunal order that had required RIL to repay ₹447.27 crore to investors over a 2007‑2008 share‑trading dispute involving its subsidiary Reliance Petroleum Ltd (RPL). The Court held the tribunal erred in finding fraud under the PFUTP Rule and cancelled the repayment directive, while noting that a fine could still be imposed. It also directed that the ₹250 crore previously deposited by RIL into the Investor Protection Fund be returned.
Both developments underscore Reliance’s strong financial position and its ability to navigate regulatory and legal challenges.
