Reliance Jio and ShareChat IPO Plans Signal Boost for Indian Tech Sector

India’s telecom leader Reliance Jio has filed with the Securities and Exchange Board of India to launch an initial public offering expected to raise between US$3.8 billion and US$4 billion. The proceeds aim to retire debt and could set a new benchmark for large‑scale IPOs in the country, prompting analysts to anticipate further listings later in the year.

Meanwhile, Indian social‑media firm ShareChat, owned by Mohalla Tech, is preparing for a possible listing within the next four to five quarters that could raise up to US$400 million. The company has become operationally profitable, reporting annual revenue of more than 10 billion rupees and a user base of roughly 150 million monthly active users. ShareChat plans to use the capital to expand generative‑AI tools, reduce content‑production costs, and strengthen its position in the regional‑language digital content market.

Both offerings reflect growing investor interest in India’s digital economy and could reshape capital‑raising activity in the sector.
