Reliance Jio unveils AI smart glasses with UPI payment capabilities

Reliance Jio has unveiled its new AI-powered smart glasses at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2026. The company showcased two distinct models: JioFrames, a stainless-steel audio-only frame, and the Jio AI Smart Glasses, which features a camera and visual intelligence capabilities.

A key feature demonstrated is the ability to perform UPI payments without a smartphone. By using the integrated camera to scan QR codes and issuing voice commands, users can initiate transactions hands-free. While the demo was successful, official details regarding transaction limits, security protocols, and identity verification have not yet been released.

The smart glasses also include real-time translation services for 12 Indian languages, intended to facilitate communication across different linguistic groups. The camera-equipped model supports HD photography, video recording, and live social media streaming, with captured media saved directly to the Jio AI Cloud. Other functionalities include open-ear speakers for calls and music, health coaching, and meeting management.
