Reliance Jio unveils AI smart glasses with UPI payment capabilities

Reliance Jio has demonstrated new AI-powered smart glasses at the India Mobile Congress 2026. The devices are designed to reduce smartphone dependence by offering hands-free features such as real-time translation for 12 languages, AI-powered note-taking, and live cricket commentary.

A key feature of the glasses is the ability to perform UPI payments. Using an integrated camera, the glasses can scan QR codes, allowing users to initiate transactions via voice commands. Under UPI Circle rules, transactions are limited to Rs 5,000 per instance and Rs 15,000 per month.

The company plans to release two versions: premium JioFrames, which include a camera, and voice-only Jio Glasses. Both will operate on the JioReality OS, with a potential market arrival in late 2026 or early 2027. These products aim to compete with offerings from Meta and Samsung.
