Relics of Saint Anne to arrive in Bucharest from Mount Athos
The relics of Saint Anne from the Kutlumuș Monastery on Mount Athos are scheduled to arrive in Bucharest, Romania, on Saturday, September 5, 2026. A delegation of five monks will accompany the reliquary, arriving at Henri Coandă International Airport around 15:00.
Upon arrival, the delegation will proceed to the Patriarchal Palace, where Patriarch Daniel will bless the relics. The reliquary will then be transported to the Saint George New Church, where it will be placed in the porch alongside the relics of Saint Maria Brâncoveanu. The event is organized in honor of the Holy Brâncoveanu Martyrs and Saint Maria Brâncoveanu, the patrons and founders of the church.
A series of religious services, including liturgies and vigils, will take place from September 5 through September 10. The arrival coincides with significant Orthodox feast days, including the Nativity of the Mother of God on September 8 and the commemoration of Saints Joachim and Anne on September 9.
