Relief efforts and funding programs launched for flood victims in US regions
Relief organizations and government programs are mobilizing to assist communities affected by recent flooding in different parts of the United States.
In Southwest Colorado and Northwest New Mexico, the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, and New Mexico Community Foundation are coordinating aid. The American Red Cross is requesting financial contributions rather than physical goods to support residents in Archuleta County whose homes were damaged or destroyed. The Salvation Army has been providing meals to evacuees and first responders in Pagosa Springs and South Fork.
In Pennsylvania, the Small Business Administration and the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency have announced assistance for residents in Allegheny, Beaver, Fayette, Greene, Washington, and Westmoreland counties following intense flash flooding in August and September. The Disaster Loan Program offers low-interest loans to homeowners, renters, nonprofits, and businesses. Homeowners may be eligible for up to $500,000 for primary residence repairs and $100,000 for personal property, while businesses and nonprofits may apply for up to $2 million to cover disaster losses.
