During the 90th Thessaloniki International Fair, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis inaugurated a new, state-of-the-art hematology center at the Georgios Papanikolaou General Hospital. The facility, which cost 13.36 million euros and was funded by the Recovery and Resilience Fund, covers over 2,500 square meters. It is designed to provide advanced cellular and gene therapies, with the capacity to increase such treatments for leukemia and lymphoma patients by 30% to 50%. The center is expected to serve patients from Northern Greece, the rest of the country, and Cyprus.

The inauguration was marked by an emotional testimony from patient Georgia Xanthopoulou, who recalled the severe infrastructure deficiencies she faced in 2019. Mitsotakis used the event to highlight the government's use of European funds for public health infrastructure.

In separate press briefings, the Prime Minister outlined a series of economic measures, including wage increases, pension boosts, and tax relief for various sectors. These announcements drew significant criticism from opposition parties, including PASOK, SYRIZA, and the Hellenic Left, who challenged the government's economic direction and the adequacy of the proposed social measures.
