Mănăștur Cathedral holds painting consecration service in Cluj-Napoca

Nine high-ranking Orthodox hierarchs gathered in Cluj-Napoca on September 20, 2026, for a special service at the Sfinții Apostoli Petru și Pavel Church, commonly known as the Mănăștur Cathedral. The ceremony marked the consecration of the cathedral's new paintings and the completion of recent beautification works.

The service was led by Metropolitan Andrei of Cluj, Maramureș, and Sălaj, alongside bishops from Huși, Maramureș and Sătmar, Tulcea, Sălaj, Dacia Felix, Northern Europe, and the Orthodox Diocese of Spain and Portugal. The cathedral, which was constructed between 1990 and 2018, underwent painting between 2020 and 2023, with final decorative works concluding in 2026. During the service, the interior and exterior of the sanctuary were blessed with holy water and the Holy Chrism.
