Religious art exhibitions open in Spain and Colombia
Two distinct religious-themed art exhibitions are currently being held in Spain and Colombia.
In Salamanca, Spain, the Palacio Episcopal is hosting a portion of the “Antología” exhibition by painter Ángel Luis Iglesias. Running until October 15, the showcase spans 47 years of the artist's career, specifically focusing on his religious works. The collection includes various interpretations of the “Cristo de Velázquez,” ranging from early childhood drawings to preparatory sketches for his 2023 “Apóstol” exhibition.
In Colombia, the Pinacoteca Departamental is hosting “La Apoteosis de los Estigmas” by artist Jhonny Blandón. The exhibition, which remains open until the 30th of the month, features canvases that bridge biblical narratives with contemporary daily life. Blandón utilizes local people as models to transform the concept of stigmata into a universal metaphor for human struggle, loss, and hope.
