Religious celebrations planned for the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Italy

Religious communities in Italy are preparing for solemn celebrations in honor of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, scheduled for September 14.

In Barletta, the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre and the Archconfraternity of the Holy Wood of the Cross, in collaboration with the “Barletta Civitas Mariae” festival committee, will hold festivities centered on the relic of the Holy Wood of the Cross, the patron saint of the city. The program includes a solemn triduum with the enthronement of the stauroteca and the Holy Rosary.

In Gubbio, the Confraternity of the Church of Santa Croce is marking the upcoming 17th centenary of the discovery of the Holy Cross by Empress Helena in 327 AD. To commemorate the event, a series of cultural reflections and religious services will be held, including a preparatory triduum and a solemn mass presided over by Bishop Luciano Paolucci Bedini, which will also feature the induction of new confraternity members.
