Religious ceremonies mark Confirmation sacraments in Portugal and Brazil

In Funchal, Portugal, twenty-seven youths and adults from the parishes of Imaculado Coração de Maria and Livramento received the Sacrament of Confirmation. The ceremony was presided over by Canon Marcos Gonçalves, Vicar General of the Diocese of Funchal. While the Bishop of Funchal, Dom Nuno Brás, is the ordinary minister of the sacrament, the Canon acted with the necessary delegation permitted under Canon Law.

In Itaipava, Brazil, Bishop Dom Joel Portella Amado presided over a Holy Mass at the Nossa Senhora de Fátima Parish, where approximately 50 individuals received the sacrament. The event also coincided with the 30th anniversary of the parish. During his homily, the Bishop emphasized that Confirmation represents spiritual maturity and a commitment to Christian life rather than a mere graduation.
