Catholic bishops call for renewal of parish catechesis

Catholic bishops in Poland have issued a pastoral letter for the 16th Week of Education, held from September 13 to 19, under the theme ‘Education and formation in the community of faith’. The bishops urge a renewal of parish catechesis, emphasizing that it should not merely repeat school religious lessons but serve as a space for authentic encounter through small group meetings and prayer.

In the letter, the bishops call for a shift from viewing parishes as administrative offices to seeing them as places of meeting for all, including those seeking or distanced from faith. They encourage moving from a model of administration to one of active evangelization.

In other regional news, Bishop Piotr Jarecki celebrated the 50th anniversary of the parish in Konstancin, urging the community to act as a family rather than a disconnected group. Meanwhile, in Prague, Archbishop Stanislav Přibyl issued a pastoral letter for the new school year, calling for a renewal of trust and emphasizing the importance of peace in a divided world.
