Vietnam religious communities hold various ceremonies and festivals

Various religious communities in Vietnam held significant ceremonies in late August 2026.

In the Catholic community, several milestones were observed: the Bac Ninh Priest Retreat celebrated the feast of Saint Joseph Dang Dinh Vien; Son Hoa Parish honored the Virgin Mary; and Xuan Bang Parish consecrated its newly renovated church to mark its 100th anniversary. Additionally, Father Giuse Dang Van Nien was officially installed as the new parish priest of Tien Non in Hue.

Despite heavy rains caused by Typhoon Narra, the Bach Tinh parish community continued its scheduled spiritual week of prayer.

In the Buddhist tradition, thousands of practitioners gathered at Kim Son Lac Hong Pagoda in Phu Tho for the Vu Lan festival. The event featured the symbolic “rose pinning” ceremony, where attendees wore colored roses to signify whether their parents were still living or deceased, creating an emotional atmosphere of remembrance and gratitude.
