Religious educators hold symposia on inclusivity and technology

Religious educators in Colombia and Chile recently held symposia focused on modernizing catechesis and addressing contemporary social and technological challenges.

In Medellín, Colombia, the Archdiocese organized the VIII Symposium of Evangelization and Catechesis. The event focused on inclusive practices for individuals with disabilities and neurodivergent persons. Experts such as Mónica María Londoño Restrepo and Daniela Duque Rúa provided guidance on neurodevelopment and removing barriers to faith processes to help create more welcoming religious communities.

In Chillán, Chile, the Diocese held a diocesan encounter for approximately 500 catechists from various parishes and educational institutions. The program included reflections on the identity and vocation of religious educators led by Professor Patricio Merino Beas. Additionally, Monsignor Andrés Ferrada addressed the challenges posed by artificial intelligence, emphasizing the need to maintain human dignity in the face of technological advancement.
