Religious festivals held at Wilhering Abbey and Engelberg

Religious celebrations honoring angels and patron saints are taking place at Wilhering Abbey in Austria and Engelberg in Germany.

At Wilhering Abbey, four graduates of the abbey gymnasium participated in a special premiere during the Guardian Angel procession on September 6, 2026. The graduates carried a baroque angel statue following a service led by Maria Krone. The tradition of the Guardian Angel festival in Wilhering dates back to the Baroque era as an expression of gratitude for the completion of the church.

In Engelberg, a patronal feast in honor of Saint Archangel Michael is scheduled for September 27. The event includes a high mass celebrated by Pater Nelson Antoney, along with Pastor Christian Stadtmüller and retired Pastor Anton Rollinger. A highlight of the celebration will be the formal inauguration and blessing of a newly designed and colored figure of Archangel Michael. The festivities will conclude with a church concert by Arno + Krümel.
