Religious festivals held in Porto Lagos and Argolida
Religious celebrations were held in Greece to honor the Virgin Mary at two distinct locations. In Porto Lagos, a Divine Liturgy was celebrated at the Vatopaidi Metochi of Saint Nicholas on Lake Vistonida for the feast of Panagia Pantanassa. The service was led by Bishop Sophronios of Polystylon and attended by pilgrims from Thrace, Macedonia, Cyprus, and Romania, as well as representatives from the Greek Armed Forces and security services.
In the mountainous region of Argolida, festivities took place at the Holy Paraklesion of Panagia Myrtidiotissa in Malandreni. Metropolitan Nektarios of Argolis presided over the Panegyrical Vespers. The site is noted for its tradition involving a 13th-century icon reportedly discovered by a shepherd in a valley of myrtle trees. The local shrine has grown from a small chapel into a larger temple to accommodate the large number of pilgrims who visit the site.
