Religious festivals held in Segovia and Rionegro

Religious celebrations are taking place in Segovia, Spain, and Rionegro, Colombia.

In Segovia, the Novenario in honor of the Virgen de la Fuencisla, the patron saint of the city, will be held from September 17 to September 27 at the Segovia Cathedral. The events include a reception of the image in the Plaza Mayor, religious services presided over by Bishop Jesús Vidal Chamorro, and various community activities such as youth novenas, flower offerings, and traditional dances by the group ‘La Esteva’.

In Rionegro, Antioquia, the community concluded ten days of patron saint festivities on September 13. The celebrations honored the image of Jesús Nazareno, a colonial wooden carving known locally as ‘el Jamaiquino’ due to its origins in Jamaica. Brought to the region by Pedro Gutiérrez de Lara during the colonial era, the image has been a central figure of local devotion for over 250 years.
