Religious festivities held in Arica and Yunquera de Henares

Religious communities in Arica, Chile, and Yunquera de Henares, Spain, recently held traditional celebrations honoring their patron saints.

In Arica, devotees gathered at the Santa Cruz Parish from October 9 to 11 to celebrate the ‘Octava de la Fiesta de Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Las Peñas’. The event featured religious dances, songs, and prayers, involving 15 groups from the Association of Religious Societies of the Virgin of Las Peñas. The celebration provided a space for those unable to travel to the Livílcar sanctuary to express their faith.

In Yunquera de Henares, the festivities concluded with the return of the Virgen de la Granja to her hermitage. The procession, which had been delayed by one week due to adverse weather, took place on October 11. The event included the traditional annual auction and concluded with the performance of the Hymn to the Virgen de la Granja, marking the end of the patron saint festivals until September.
