Religious festivities held in Bragança and Sendim

Religious celebrations are taking place across the Bragança-Miranda diocese in Portugal. In Bragança, the city will celebrate the Solemnity of the Virgin Mary, Queen, under the invocation of Our Lady of Graces on August 22. The festivities follow a novena that began on August 11, featuring various theological reflections on Marian apparitions. The main event includes a solemn Eucharist presided over by Bishop Nuno Almeida, followed by a traditional procession through the city streets featuring images from local parishes.

In the village of Sendim, celebrations in honor of Saint Barbara concluded on August 9. Bishop Nuno Almeida presided over the mass, where he spoke about finding God in silence amidst life's difficulties, including regional wildfires and global conflicts. The event concluded with a procession and the official handover of festival responsibilities to the new organizing committee for the 2026/2027 term.
