Religious festivities honor Nossa Senhora dos Remédios in Portugal

Religious festivities honoring Nossa Senhora dos Remédios have taken place in Portugal, notably in Lamego and Celorico de Basto. In Lamego, the rector of the Santuário de Nossa Senhora dos Remédios, Father João António Teixeira, described the celebrations as a “mariano tsunami,” noting an intense and authentic connection to the faith among the people. He observed that the number of faithful seeking spiritual guidance has increased significantly following the pandemic.

In Celorico de Basto, the Arco de Baúlhe hosted four days of celebrations for the Romaria de Nossa Senhora dos Remédios. The event included religious services presided over by Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich and the presentation of a new hymn dedicated to the Virgin. The festivities concluded with the Procissão do Triunfo, featuring community groups, musicians, and traditional processions.
