Religious festivities scheduled for August in Brazil and Portugal

Various religious celebrations are scheduled for August in Brazil and Portugal.

In Figueirão, Brazil, the traditional Festa da Fazenda de Nossa Senhora da Abadia will take place on August 14, 2026, at Rancho dos Tropeiros. The event features religious ceremonies, including Holy Mass and the Rosary, alongside community activities such as a communal lunch, auctions, and dances. The festival is a long-standing cultural tradition in the region, with local accounts dating its origins back to 1926.

In Fátima, Portugal, the Sanctuary is preparing for the International Anniversary Pilgrimage on August 12 and 13. Presided over by Apostolic Nuncio Andrés Carrascosa, the event commemorates the fourth apparition of Our Lady to the shepherd children. The pilgrimage includes traditional offerings of wheat used for making hosts, Eucharistic processions, and candle blessings. Thousands of domestic and international pilgrims are expected to attend.
