Religious heritage restoration projects underway in Spain

Several religious structures in Spain are undergoing or seeking funding for significant restoration efforts to preserve historical heritage.

In Horcajada de la Torre, Cuenca, the Parish of San Pedro Apóstol is seeking funds to repair its large church roof, cornices, and damaged wooden beams. Due to the high costs and the small population of the village, a solidarity concert by the Camerata Ars Suma has been organized to assist with financing. Current agreements between the Bishopric and the Provincial Council of Cuenca cover only 50% of the costs, leaving the parish to find the remaining half.

In Ceuta, the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption is set to undergo its largest rehabilitation in decades. The project, estimated at approximately five million euros, is a joint initiative by the Autonomous City and the Bishopric. The work will be conducted in five phases and includes repairing roofs and facades, addressing humidity, restoring moldings and vaults, and updating electrical and climate control systems. Major construction is expected to begin in 2027, with a projected duration of two and a half years.
